Free league table calculator

A league table turns individual results into an overall picture. Competition Brackets lets you choose points for a win, draw and loss, then a secondary tie-break. Enter match scores to see played, won, drawn, lost, scores for, scores against and points.

The rules behind the results.

Choose the rules before playing

The default is three points for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss. Change those values when creating the league if your competition uses another system. Published competition rules should decide the scoring system, not a convenient default.

Understand score difference

Score difference is total scores for minus scores against. A team that scores 12 and concedes 8 has a difference of +4. This is different from a ratio or head-to-head record, neither of which is silently substituted here.

When competitors are still tied

Rank first by points, then by your selected difference, scores-for or wins measure. Competitors still equal share a rank; alphabetical display does not award a higher finishing position. If your event needs a sole winner, decide a playoff or other published rule outside this first version.

An example points calculation

Two wins and a draw earn seven points under the default system: 2 × 3 + 1 × 1 = 7. An unplayed fixture earns no points. Updating or clearing a recorded result recalculates the table from the remaining recorded matches.

Compare match counts before choosing your format

For n entrants, a knockout needs n − 1 played matches to find a champion. A single round robin needs n × (n − 1) ÷ 2 matches; home and away doubles that figure. A third-place playoff adds one match to a knockout.

Eight teams need seven knockout matches or 28 single round-robin fixtures. Choose knockout for a shorter event; choose round robin when playing every opponent matters. Court availability, rest periods and dependent rounds still affect the schedule.
